Weights Engineer for BAE Systems! 
Location – Warton 
Hourly Rate - £31.60 PAYE or £41.70 Umbrella
Duration – 12 months
Working Pattern - 5 days onsite 

BAE Systems require a Weights Engineer for an initial 12 month contract based out of their Warton office. 

The Weights Engineer role will provide you with invaluable experience working on military fast jet airframe design, development and support programmes across a range of different platforms.

This is an exciting role, working within a multidisciplinary airframe team including designers, aerodynamicists, materials specialists, manufacturing engineers and structures engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be expected to support and manage work plans for yourself and for your team, contribute your knowledge and experience to help the team make effective decisions and be passionate and proactive in the development and deployment of the discipline capabilities.
  • Defining and carrying out engineering tasks within your span of responsibility for you and any subordinate staff under your control.
  • Agreeing your work plan with your line manager and applying the most efficient engineering methods available.
  • Ensuring the technical content of your work and also that of subordinate staff, including deliverables, is acceptable to your line manager.
  • Discharging tasks to cost and on time to meet project requirements and business needs.
  • Confirming all work is compatible with the departmental quality policy and that departmental procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring effective interactions with your team, customers, and others, to promote the best interests of the team, department and company.
  • Providing efficiency and effectiveness suggestions for the development of Weights Engineering toolsets and processes within the discipline capability development framework.
Experience:
  • You will have a sound and comprehensive knowledge of aircraft structure and systems Weights Engineering processes and methods, including early lifecycle weight, centre of gravity and inertia property assessment, and the management of weight targets.
  • You will possess good communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with superiors, peers and subordinates as well as with key stakeholders and customers
  • You will have a logical and ordered approach to your work and be able to manage the work of any subordinate staff under your control.
  • You will be able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, being able to recognise conflicting engineering priorities while maintaining the Weights Engineering discipline integrity requirements.
  • Degree/HND/HNC in a STEM subject or equivalent professional qualifications in terms of formal education.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working within a Weights Engineering, Structural Engineering or Airframe related discipline.
  • Experience in managing staff within an engineering environment
