Materials Controller - Purchasing
Bolton, Greater Manchester (hybrid working)
£30,000 – £36,500 plus bonus and benefits
Several Materials Controllers are wanted on a permanent basis by a global Engineering client of ours who is at the forefront of their industry and going through a real period of growth. In this role, the successful candidate will ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of component parts by co-ordinating and scheduling the flow of materials to satisfy production demands, whilst maintaining inventories and following assembly builds from receipt of order, through to despatch.
This is a permanent opportunity that includes a base salary of between £30,000 - £36,500 dependent upon experience and qualifications plus bonuses and benefits.

Overview of the Materials Controller role:
- Create part numbers, structuring, routing, raising manufacturing orders, issuing stock to relevant contracts.
- Update order progress reports for project engineers on all contracts and on all spares orders for the spares team.
- Liaise with freight forwarders regarding shipping orders, complete necessary transactions to transfer items from the manufacturing system.
- CIPS level 4 or equivalent qualification is desirable but not required, or equivalent through experience.
- Working knowledge of an MRP based manufacturing control system, ideally MAPICS / SAP.
- A good understanding of production planning and inventory management principles.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a materials control function/2 plus years in a purchasing function are essential.
