Job Title: Product Safety Engineer
Client: BAE Systems
Location: Glascoed, UK
Contract Type: 12-Month Contingent Contract (with the opportunity to be extended)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (Hybrid: 3 days on-site, 1 day remote)
Hourly Rate: £40 PAYE or £52.78 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)
Security Clearance: BPSS + CTC
About the Role
As a Product Safety Engineer, you will work across various BAE Systems Land UK Munitions programmes and products. Your role will include supporting Technical Authorities by delivering safety assurance advice and generating safety and risk analysis deliverables for new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with the Product Safety and Environment Management Framework and related policies.
  • Provide product safety support for projects and bids, including:
    • Tailoring product safety management plans.
    • Conducting hazard identification, analysis, and risk assessments (e.g., FMEAs, FTAs).
    • Writing detailed Safety and Environmental Case Reports (SECRs).
    • Maintaining product Hazard Logs.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including Technical Authorities, regulators, and customers.
  • Contribute to delivering conforming and safe products.
Skills and Experience
  • Proficient in applying safety management processes within systems engineering lifecycles (e.g., CADMID cycle, Systems Vee model).
  • Skilled in hazard identification and producing ALARP safety arguments.
  • Experienced in managing Hazard Logs and completing safety assessments.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
