Contract Type: 12-month contingent contract (with likelihood of extension)
Hourly Rate: £50 PAYE or £65.98 UMBRELLA (Inside IR35)

About the Role:
BAE Systems Marine Limited is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer specializing in Mechanical Engineering to join our Integrated Combat Systems (IntCS) team supporting the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet. This role is critical for the design, integration, and maintenance of advanced combat systems, ensuring they are safe, fit for purpose, and meet operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team, managing daily activities and deliverables while fostering skills development.
• Provide expertise in structural, thermal, and hydraulic mechanical design in the naval/marine domain.
• Review and refine design information for Preliminary, Critical, and Final Design Reviews.
• Deliver mechanical design interface documentation and produce engineering drawings to BS 8888 standards.
• Conduct engineering calculations for design validation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and external partners to resolve design challenges.
• Ensure compliance with safety, contractual, and environmental standards throughout the design lifecycle.
• Support system acceptance activities and supplier document reviews.

Key Deliverables:

• Technical reports, specifications, and system design documents.
• Engineering solutions supporting build activities and defect resolution.
• Requirements management and acceptance criteria.
• Participation in design reviews and presentations to customers.
