Job: Principal Engineer – Site Safety Case
Location: Barrow in Furness (One day per month on-site)
Hourly Rate: £53.73 PAYE or £70.90 UMBRELLA (37hrs per week)
Length of Contract: 12 months (with the opportunity for extension)
About the Role:
BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Engineer in Site Safety Case within our Nuclear Safety & Security team. In this pivotal role, you will assist in developing the nuclear site safety case, contributing to hazard identification and analysis, deterministic and probabilistic assessments, and supporting regulatory discussions with ONR/DNSR.

Core Duties:
- Develop and maintain the nuclear site safety case.
- Conduct hazard identification and analysis.
- Perform deterministic and probabilistic assessments.
- Support ongoing periodic reviews of safety activities.
- Collaborate with engineering and human factors teams.
- Degree in engineering or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline.
- Significant experience in safety case development techniques, preferably in the nuclear or high hazard industry.
- Familiarity with the Naval Nuclear programme is ideal but not essential
- Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction skills.
- Ability to write accurately, concisely, and logically.
- Proven ability to influence in a challenging environment.
