Outsource becomes a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower 🌻

Company news

Outsource is proud to announce they’ve become a corporate member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, reinforcing their commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the workplace.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a globally recognised symbol, designed to support individuals with invisible disabilities. Those wearing the sunflower may need a bit of extra help, patience, or understanding in public spaces, including workplaces, transport, and shops.

There are over 16 million disabled people in the UK. And up to 80% have a non-visible disability. That's nearly 13 million individuals whose disabilities may not be immediately apparent. This could be candidates, clients, colleagues and of course, friends and family too!

As members of the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, we actively contribute to creating an inclusive society.

Paul White, CEO of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, said: "We are delighted that Outsource has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. The recruitment process for disabled candidates can present challenges. Becoming a member signals to disabled job applicants that individuals' access needs will be recognised, listened to and respected. With the Sunflower, Outsource is removing barriers to employment."

Breaking Down Barriers in Recruitment

At Outsource, we believe that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to thrive in their career, regardless of any disability - visible or invisible. Our corporate membership with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower aligns with our purpose: to eliminate bias, privilege, and inequality within talent engagement. This initiative helps us further remove barriers that candidates with disabilities may encounter throughout the recruitment process, onboarding, and employment.

By working closely with our clients, we aim to create more inclusive environments where businesses can attract and retain the best talent, helping them realise the value of diverse teams.

Celebrating our Internal Launch

Last week, we launched the Sunflower internally with a day of learning and raising awareness. Our team took part in a Lunch and Learn session about the importance of recognising and supporting people with invisible disabilities and everyone got to take home sunflower-themed cupcakes, sunflowers, sunflower seeds as well as the Sunflower lanyards and badges for both wearers and supporters!

This week and next, our whole company will complete the Sunflower induction and training – to show our commitment and ensure that our whole company can be true supporters as well as wearers.

Join us in Supporting Inclusivity

Our corporate membership with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is just one step towards a more inclusive workforce. We encourage everyone to learn more about this initiative and how it supports individuals with non-visible disabilities in various aspects of life, including work.
